Car Manufacturer History Report Part 1 : BMW
BMW have a reputation that extends right around the planet. The blue/white logo - signifying a propeller spinning through a blue sky (BMW once constructed aircraft engines) - is a symbol of high quality. The reason there are numerous older BMWs still being driven around is proof of the durability of the BMW engine.
BMWs have an understated class about them; look at the 80s / 90s models of the M3 BMW for example. Anybody who knows anything about high performance vehicles will not fail to notice when they see an M3 pass them on the motorway. The stupendous horsepower under the hood (0-60 in around 5 seconds) is camouflaged by the standard 3 series body shape. It's the unpretentious design of BMW which adds to the love of the brand.
The German car manufacturing company have never ceased in bringing out new car models, and in the decade have showcased a range of two-door sports cars - the X and Z ranges, which have broken away from the rather stately 3, 5 and 7 series.
What draws in a number of car buyers is the fact that second-hand BMWs retain their price very well, due to the high build quality, and durability of BMWs. As a matter of fact, it's noteworthy just how frequently you find a BMW dealer on the main street, due to the great need for second-hand BMW cars.
BMW have forever been at the forefront of engine science - for instance, their present-day engagement in the F1 championships gives them an opportunity to examine their apprehension of racing engines in a racing environment. Away from F1 competition, BMW were awarded Engine Of The Year Award 2009 for three categories which underscores their dedication to engine optimisation and performance.
